VGSA has been serving the youth of SW Washington since 1963. Since its inception, VGSA has been dedicated to providing a place for young women to develop self-confidence and a sense of team effort through the game of fast pitch softball. And, at the risk of sounding arrogant, we feel as though we have succeeded for the most part. This does not mean, however, that we think we have "arrived" and become complacent. Quite the contrary, now more than ever, we continue to strive for excellence. Not only in the program we provide, the facilities we maintain, but also in the philosophy we've adopted.

We continue to believe that strong family bonds are the key to a child's success and we think of each of our participants as our "kid". Additionally, we are convinced that today’s youth are this planet's most precious natural resource.

Without proper nourishment and nurturing, sound growth is difficult ... without encouragement, self-esteem is not enhanced ... without obstacles, perseverance is not tested ... without challenges, resourcefulness is not learned ... without responsibilities, children cannot become response-able ... without support, children feel alone ... without patience, tolerance is not demonstrated ... without having a place where they can safely "fail", children may not develop the strength to "try again" ... and without genuine love and acceptance, children will not be able to love and accept themselves nor express this for others.
